ESPN Commerce Unification with Disney Streaming

Role: Product Designer - Web Platform
Team: 3 designers (1 per platform), Disney Streaming and ESPN Product, Design, and Engineering Partners
Launch: August 2024

Background

ESPN is expanding its direct-to-consumer offerings! To do so, the business wanted to unify its backend platform with Disney+. The effort would encompass a purchase flow overhaul, a new account management portal, and a scalable design solution uniquely for ESPN. My role was to lead the design for ESPN’s web platform, ensuring a seamless integration with Disney+ while also retaining ESPN’s unique features. I worked alongside product and engineering to develop a scalable solution that was both responsive and functional across all device breakpoints. This initiative took 9 months and included projects like PPV purchases, off-device purchase flows for living room devices, account hold scenarios, and upgrade and cancel flows.

The first major release launched in August 2024, setting the groundwork for ESPN’s scalable future.
